Job Summary

Expert responsible for the development and creation of Distribution Operations (DO) asset health foundational capabilities, which entails interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating complex technical assignments. Oversees DO equipment health assessments/studies and develops a comprehensive program to assess health maturity and generate capital programs to address aging infrastructure issues. Utilizes expertise in the areas of electrical equipment and equipment standards, as well as relevant system or technical solutions (e.g. Maximo and ESRI). Leads projects and interfaces with both field and office resources. Span of control: 0 - this is an individual contributor job, but is an informal leader who provides work direction and technical guidance to others.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensures that Distribution Operations has a clear path and is moving toward the implementation of Asset Management best practices, as defined by DTE Energy Asset Management Foundational Capabilities.
  • Sets direction regarding asset health prioritization and strategy.
  • Leads projects related to asset health development and updates.
  • Ensures relevant equipment and maintenance records are maintained in appropriate systems (e.g. Maximo, ESRI).
  • Keeps abreast of application changes that impact the organization and implements changes as needed.
  • Ensures relevant equipment and maintenance records are maintained in appropriate systems (e.g. Maximo, ESRI).
  • Communicates technical issues that could impact the organization to leadership.
  • Presents results of studies, projects and answers technical questions from equipment engineers.
  • May mentor, provide guidance and direction, or act in a subject matter expert capacity.
  • Provides oversight and strategy to grow Distribution Operations asset health and asset health processes.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (engineering, business, finance) and 8 years of asset management experience.

Other Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 10 years of asset management experience acquired in capital intensive industries, such as power generation, refining or transmission and distribution. Previous experience providing work direction, project management, and/or leadership.


Other Requirements:

  • Expertise in relevant systems and technical solutions, such as Maximo and ESRI.
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 55001 standards.
  • Experience developing asset management and maintenance strategies.
  • Working knowledge of construction standards, transmission and distribution related electrical equipment and asset health assessment techniques.
  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility and confidence.
  • Ability to develop/coordinate cross-functional work groups and projects, yielding optimal outcomes.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills consistent with the ability to build relationships and influence parties; may include getting parties to embrace changing expectations and initiatives.
  • Competent in multi-tasking (i.e. the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high-visibility initiatives and innovation, teamwork/planning).
