Job Summary

Oversees customer-facing social channel strategies and implementation plans. Uses knowledge of new and emerging media channels to develop social media content and optimize engagement opportunities. Identifies and coordinates with groups across the organization to promote content, build community channels, and develop social media initiatives. Creates social experiences through insights, social listening, and metrics. Oversees team that supports social media communications on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and blogs.  Leads social media team in developing and managing social media strategy, including brand development, content, engagement, paid social targeting and measuring return on investment.  Manages social platform design (e.g. Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures and blog layout) Span of control: Leads a small team.

Key Accountabilities
  • Oversees internal and external relationships across the organization in the development of social content (e.g., blogs, text, photos, videos, infographics) and related initiatives
  • Ensures communications for social channels and audiences are consistent with branding, including social message coordination and communications in crisis situations
  • Monitors trends and implements technologies to improve the customer experience
  • Collaborates social media initiatives across the organization for content promotion and community building
  • Oversees social media surveys and campaigns to facilitate engagement opportunities
  • Establishes value-added metrics and reporting that supports social and corporate goals
  • Ensures the accomplishment of the following core supervisory/management functions for a given group(s) within a business unit: planning, organizing, directing the performance of on-going activities and/or special/ad hoc assignments, staffing (employee selections, training, coaching and performance management, time entry), coordinating, reporting and budgeting
  • Leads the continuous improvement commitment and efforts for team, including designing processes, establishing quality and quantity standards and metrics, collecting, refining, adapting, and communicating best practices, sharing knowledge, and developing staff in a systematic fashion; uses process design outcomes to solve problems
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • Seven (7) + years of experience with social media, inclusive of four years of experience in strategy development and target group engagement

  • Skilled in content development and management
  • Ability to manage and grow social media skills for other employees
  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms in a business setting (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blogging networks, etc.)
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate to effectively at all levels
  • Ability to conduct data analysis and use results to determine recommendations
  • Understanding of digital communications principles and best practices
  • Ability to work with consultants and external agency resources
  • Ability to be flexible and work with shifting priorities; embraces new/evolving responsibilities
  • Ability to serve as an onsite “reporter” during planned events and crisis responses
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, and social data analytics
