Our Hiring Process

  1. You apply online.
  2. We determine how closely you fit the position needs.
  3. You successfully complete a skills test, if applicable.
  4. Manager reviews your resume and they invite you to interview.
  5. You receive and accept our offer.
  6. You pass a hair analysis drug test and detailed background check.
  7. You begin your career with us. 

What Can You Expect

We invest in our hiring process and carefully review each applicant's information. For every job we post, it could take as long as 90 days until we successfully hire a candidate. We’re thoughtful and thorough to ensure our continued success as the best-operated energy company in North America.

When you interview on-site, we ask Targeted Selection® behavioral interview questions prepared by Development Dimension International, Inc.

Screening and Assessments

  • A thorough background screening, drug test and physical examination are required for all positions.
  • Most trades, customer service and field positions require skills-based testing that is administered at our downtown campus.

About EEI Skills Testing

We administer aptitude and skills tests for a variety of DTE Electric positions. Brochures and practice tests are available to help you prepare for these tests. The following materials have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a United States association of investor-owned utilities.
