Operations Leadership Rotational Program

DTE Energy is seeking highly-motivated change agents to be a part of the next generation of leaders.

Our Operations Leadership Rotational Program (OLRP) gives you valuable energy industry experience leading high-profile process improvement initiatives in our gas, electric distribution or fossil generation businesses over the course of three years at one of our DTE Energy locations.

Overview

  1. We will create a custom learning plan — designed around your strengths — giving you exposure and hands-on experience across our energy operations.
  2. You will be assigned a formal mentor at the director or vice president level to help you succeed.
  3. You will go through three rotations, up to one year each, leading continuous improvement efforts and learning about management of operations.
  4. At the end of the program, successful participants will use the network they’ve built to secure an operations leadership role based on their demonstrated capabilities.

We are looking for high-potential individuals from diverse backgrounds who meet these minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree – technical discipline preferred
  • 3-plus years of experience leading change initiatives in an operations environment
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement (CI) concepts/tools leading to significant results
  • Experience teaching CI tools and concepts in a dynamic and engaging way
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others
  • Experience supervising a represented workgroup (preferred)
  • Experience in the utility industry is a definite plus

Candidates in this program will be expected to:

  • Practice positive leadership to energize teams
  • Work directly or indirectly with leaders at all levels
  • Generate innovative ideas and apply best-practices to ensure impact of key initiatives and improved business unit performance
  • Lead and monitor CI efforts to successful execution using project management skills and techniques including those that are a part of the Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
  • Perform core supervisory/management functions
  • Provide technical support to the field as requires
