Job Summary

LOCATION:  DETROIT, MI

The T&E Gas Scheduler Senior provides transactional analysis, gas scheduling and associated responsibilities, working closely with a team of regional traders and schedulers to optimize and accurately provide pipeline activities on multiple pipelines in support of the Trading organization. Understands natural gas transactions, multiple pipeline operations and tariffs, multiple electronic bulletin boards, internal tracking and risk systems and is analytically capable of tracking transactions from inception to month end close. Independent action required in dealing with problem solving. Work is diversified and complex, requiring considerable analytical and technical skills relating to least-cost methods. Takes action on most matters without seeking advice and guidance from supervisor.

Key Accountabilities

  • Apply working knowledge of Front Office to timely scheduling of natural gas transactions.
  • Highly proficient in internal systems.
  • Works closely with regional team to understand and implement transactions.
  • Utilizes working knowledge of pipeline contracts to optimize in most efficient manner.
  • Verifies transactions with third parties and maintains good relationships.
  • Maintains all associated spreadsheets, pipeline imbalances and storage balances.
  • Applies knowledge working independently and takes necessary action to resolve problems.
  • Monitors/posts on capacity release on pipeline and relays pipeline notices to team.
  • Analyzes reports of internal systems and takes corrective action.
  • Balances source and disposition daily on pipelines and internal systems.
  • Assists in complicated reconciliation transactions, as necessary.
  • Provides training to entry level staff, as necessary.
  • Overall knowledge on most major pipelines and associated activities.
  • Provides oncall support for weekend, evening and holidays, as scheduled.
  • Maintains all associated spreadsheets and reporting requirements.
  • May act in lead role for specific operational region.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in business related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum four years of experience scheduling in the natural gas industry.

Other Qualifications

  • Knowledge of natural gas tariffs and rate structures.
  • Gas scheduling experience encompasses multiple regions of the country, pipelines and counterparties.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, with strong analytical, oral and communication skills.
  • Highly motivated individual with ability to work in fast paced environment under strict deadlines.
  • Works very independently and has significant industry knowledge and ability to train others.
  • This position may require gas FERC training.
