Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary

Entry-level position responsible for assisting in providing demand side energy conservation and energy efficiency opportunities including performing reviews of energy consuming systems and equipment including maintenance functions, operating practices and physical conditions. Perform utility usage pattern assessments and evaluations for energy reduction opportunities under the guidance of more senior level team members. Promote energy conservation and efficiency through the implementation of established best practices, energy conservation awareness education, integration of new energy efficient technologies and energy usage analysis. Span of control = 0; this is an individual contributor job.
Key Accountabilities
- With leadership direction, identify and analyze energy conservation and energy efficiency improvement opportunities, with the objective of optimizing the customer's energy utilization.
- Work with others to provide assistance in resolving billing issues, power quality issues, momentary outage resolution and any other utility-related customer concerns.
- Provide customers with energy optimization technical support for multiple energy sources including, electricity, natural gas, steam, compressed air, and water.
- Monitor and may develop energy awareness programs and activities.
- With assistance, analyze and interpret financial and energy usage-related data, conduct energy assessments at various facilities and develop optimal recommendations and solutions.
- Maintain utility consumption records and database for all facilities. Compile, review, and analyze data. Provide reports to company leadership for review, approval and distribution.
- Prepare reports relating to operations and program performance to company leadership for approval and dissemination.
- Support development of DTE Energy customersÆ annual energy budgets.
- Provide project management support for the implementation of energy related projects to ensure the maximum resource efficiency and sustainable building practices.
- Assist with driving customer satisfaction by meeting the customerÆs overall energy reduction targets.
- Follow all safety procedures and requirements of DTE Energy.
- As required, work their emergency storm assignment.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- This is a dualtrack base requirement job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following options:
- Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline and the knowledge and capabilities acquired through 3+ years of relevant job-related experience, such as experience in energy management.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline and interest in applying engineering knowledge in the field of energy management.
- Individuals who will be obtaining their degree within nine months from submitting interest will be considered; however, verification of the degree will be required prior to starting in the job.
Other Qualifications
- Understanding of energy conservation techniques and energy efficiency technology evaluations.
- Intermediate analytical and project management skills, including scheduling, estimating and budgeting.Effective verbal and written communication skills, including individuals at all levels, inside and outside the company.
- Desire to learn about existing and new products, services and technologies to optimize energy usage.
- Ability to work in a team and/or matrix structure and initiate new ideas and approaches.
- Problem solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key energy improvementrelated issues.
- Ability to perform basic financial and energy usage analyses and to provide recommendations to company leadership.
