Job Summary

Location: Cleveland, OH

This position is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient operation of all Chilled Water and associated equipment, AHU’s (Air Houses), and Cooling Units on internal customer owned machinery. Work is performed under the direction of the Plant Manager, Lead O&M Tech, or the O&M Tech Level 4 in charge of the shift. All interactions with the customer are expected to be professional and courteous while providing the services and support needed for success.

Key Accountabilities

*Assist with all station shift operation and maintenance, including startup and shutdown of main plant components and auxiliaries
*Assist with operations in accordance with established SOPs and job safety standards
*Respond to abnormalities and assist with corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good engineering practice
*Conducts routine tours of the plant to inspect equipment; provides feedback to other employees
*Complies with all site safety requirements and procedures. Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective actions as necessary
*Maintains accuracy of shift operating logs in Plantlog, records, time sheets, work orders and other administrative documents related to the plant operations
*Perform routine Chilled Water System chemistry testing and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency. Check daily consumption rates of chemicals, water, and other consumables; monitors inventories and initiates action to replenish when appropriate
*Assist with performing plant switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices as directed
*Assist with performing mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks under direction of Management, Lead O&M Technician or Responsible O&M Technician in Charge 
*Assist with investigating plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provides analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans
*Read and record gauges and meters. Perform routine operational test and adjustments on all Chilled Water plant and AHU systems and components, as required
*Active participant of the site safety team/committee
*Develop, assist, and revise operations and maintenance related procedures. 
Perform and maintain housekeeping standards and duties
*Assist with performing routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised
*Perform other duties necessary to fulfill plant requirements
*Assist other team members and works with all departments to support the operation in achieving its goals. Display routine proficiency improvements toward becoming qualified at the next level of O&M Technician progressing until him/her have reach an O&M Technician – Level 4 position

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and have a good driving record
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Ability to read and write effectively in English and to do basic mathematics
  • Knowledge of and experience in basic Refrigeration, Chillers, pumps, HVAC units, SOP’s, and PJB, JHA and Risk Assessments preferred
  • Knowledge of plant mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pumps, chillers, refrigerant systems, chemical handling, water treatment systems, AHU equipment, AC and DC electrical distribution and control systems, etc. and associated maintenance functions preferred
  • Ability to complete site-specific written qualification program
  • Basic knowledge of power plant safety, policies, and procedures, especially in area such as chemical handling, first aid, rotating machinery, and heavy equipment
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to understand fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC & DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermal dynamics, and chemistry
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and Chiller plant chemical applications
  • Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with power plants
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and basic rigging equipment such as winches, hoists, and slings

Must be able to work in or outdoors during all seasons including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. Employee in this classification is occasionally exposed to fumes and frequently exposed to airborne particles and vibration. Employee in this classification is frequently exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
