Job Summary



The GIS Technician has a minimum of 0-1 year of professional experience working in the ESRI’s ArcGIS environment.  Produces a variety of high quality geographic and cartographic materials to support DTE Midstream’s day-to-day activities. Is proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to learn new GIS skills, while maintaining efficiencies and quality. Have proven their ability to enhance the products being developed and shows entry level knowledge of complex methods.

Key Accountabilities



  • Create maps and other materials for Land, Operations, Business Development, Investor Relations and other teams across the company.
  • Gather, analyze and integrate spatial data from variety of sources and determine how best to display the data using GIS.
  • Meet with users to define data needs, project requirements, and required outputs.
  • Design and execute models and tools to streamline GIS processes.
  • Operate and maintain GIS databases and ensure their accuracy and integrity.


Minimum Education & Experience Requirements



  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in GIS or related field.
  • Competent in the use of ESRI ArcGIS 10+ software and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple job requests in a timely manner.
  • Possess an eye for detail and design.
  • Prefer working knowledge of pipeline engineering plans as well as parcel and right-of-way data.
  • Prefer the ability to automate tasks using python scripts or model builder.
