Job Summary

The IT Business Analyst provides support to the IT Senior Business Analyst to devise and design business process requirements for all IT-related systems critical to core organizational functions. This includes interfacing with clients, documenting business requirements, creating business cases and developing/executing formal test plans. May be responsible for overseeing small to medium-scale projects including creating and monitoring the project plan. Must be able to apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments. May assist in the management of financial reporting, budget actual vs. planned activities, annual budget planning, journal entries and expense transfers. Incumbents work with a large degree of independence; assignments are received in the form of results expected. This is an intermediate professional-level position.
Key Accountabilities
- Under general supervision, gathers and analyzes information, designs, recommends and implements solutions on a variety of IT related projects. Creates business requirement documents. Develops, documents and maintains project features, requirements, test plans and test cases. May apply knowledge of system development/configuration, testing methodologies, and system analysis to facilitate process change.
- Facilitates working sessions that are used to elicit features and requirements.
- Collaborates with project team members to validate requirements; works with stakeholders to ensure that delivered solutions meet the business unit needs.
- May be responsible for error handling through analysis, effective problem-solving and data fixes.
- Identifies/utilizes appropriate tools.
- Provides planning and time estimates on assignments.
- Maintains an awareness of technology trends in the industry in order to identify technology skill sets that need to be developed or enhanced within the organization.
- Works as a team member to identify solutions on a variety of IT-related projects. Utilizes team building skills. Supports multiple internal clients.
- Works toward certification in areas of expertise, when available.
- May assist with formal or informal presentations.
- May provide assistance with preparation of budget forecasting and other related financial reporting.
- Promotes continuous improvement philosophy and methodology that results in a continuous improvement culture within Information Technology. May utilize a variety of Operating System principles and tools to facilitate effective solutions that improve process design in all areas of the business.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following options:
- High School Diploma and knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through at least 5 years of Information Technology related experience
- Associate degree or industry-recognized certificate (i.e the completion of a core group of courses designated by the institution) in an information technology related discipline (other non-Information Technology degrees will be considered) and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through at least 3 years of Information Technology related experience
- Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology-related discipline with a minimum of six months of work experience
- Prefer Qualification:
- Experience working with Microsoft Office 365 suite, SharePoint and/or PowerBI
Other Qualifications
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from among a broad range of alternatives and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.
- Ability to work in a team and/or matrixed structure, supporting multiple clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication and advocacy skills consistent with the ability to present the results of projects and research to management.
- Ability to influence and build relationships to foster a positive work environment and elicit support for acceptance of new technology within the organization.
- Understanding of IT industry, e.g emerging technologies, industry standards, support services, architectures, systems design, and systems integration and an indepth knowledge of accepted IT processes related to asset acquisition, inventory processes and supplier contract management.
- Solid Project Management skills and ability to create clearly defined business cases.
- Proficient in test case design and possess the ability to create test data and queries to enable test execution and verification of results.
- Competent in multitasking (i.e the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include highvisibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork and planning).
