Job Summary

Please note that this is a multi-Term student program. Those applicants that can only work the summer term will not be considered.

 

Key Accountabilities

DTE's popular Co-op Program is accepting applications for Finance, Accounting and Business Majors. We have positions that are virtual/hybrid and located in the Southeast Michigan area.


 

Work Assignments

 

We have opportunities within our Controllers, Audit and Treasury groups. Typical work in these spaces include:

Audit

  • Supporting both Operational Audit and IT Audit
  • Performs analytics audits to support the continuous auditing function to meet our project deliverable for the year and to build out the team’s capabilities while also enhancing our overlapping knowledge base across the group
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of our workforce/project scheduling tools
  • Assists with the administrative functions of our underlying audit project workspace
  • Helps with SOX testing this year for the IT Audit team

Controllers

  • Support of SEC and regulatory reporting filings
  • Critical months end close responsibilities for cash clearing, A/R, A/P, SOX testing and FERC pages
  • Budget/Forecasting/Reporting
  • Supporting financials for major outages and for multiple business units
  • Maintains master database to support quarterly forecasting
  • Prepares monthly unbilled model and performance QC across month reporting

Treasury

  • Processing invoices
  • Processing credit/debit memos
  • Employee credit card administration – reconciling accounts, deactivate/issue new cards, manage employee A/R and A/P
  • Payment processing
  • Take part in continuous improvement processes and projects

 

Term start, term length and work hours

  • Start would occur in May
  • Term length would be a minimum of two terms, but could go beyond that, if the student continued meet program eligibility guidelines and performance expectations
  • These positions are 32-40 hours a week. Applicants only able to work part-time, in any term, will not be considered

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Students participating in an undergraduate or graduate degree program are eligible to participate in the program. Those who are graduating from college within a full term from application are not considered students, and therefore will not be considered (i.e., students applying in September who are graduating at the end of that term or the next, are not considered students due to impending graduation date).
  • College students graduating with their Associate’s or bachelor’s and immediately moving into a bachelor’s or master’s program are considered students and, therefore, eligible to participate in the program.
  • Students must be at least 18 years of age by the time they start working to be eligible for program.
  • Students must have a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA.
  • College students will be asked to provide an official transcript as proof of eligibility prior to receiving an offer letter of employment.
