Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
Responsible for review and analysis of complex solar billing, crediting, and tariff issues to ensure process and billing accuracy. Reconciles utility accounts, resolves discrepancies, and ensures compliance for all solar customer accounts.
Span of control: individual contributor role.
Key Accountabilities
• Uses customer billing systems (i.e.CRM, ISU and Business Process Exception Management) to maintain customer accounts, ensure accurate billing, correct complex billing issues, process adjustments, create/update work orders and process refund requests.
• Analyzes billing information and historical usage data to determine resolution on metering, sell-back, and tariff issues for customers.
• Prepares reports (including Solar revenue, refunds, and customer service list) for management regarding program enrollment, account status and other financial information related to private solar customer accounts.
• Maintains solar and billing central files, including all solar contracts and qualifications, Ensures proper transitioning of rates (ex., Legacy Net Metering Rider 16 to Distributed Generation Rider 18), and Solar Current contracts.
• Assist customers with inquiries regarding billing and utility concerns for their solar products.
• Develops industry expertise by participating in industry working groups, organizations, or societies. Uses knowledge to recommend process improvements and efficiencies. Responsible for calculating energy solar bills, analyzing usage data, and reconciliation.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of customer service, experience interacting with commercial and industrial billing and customer account management OR
• Associate degree in business or management with 3 years of customer service experience interacting with commercial and industrial billing and customer account management OR
• Bachelor’s degree in business or management with 1 year of customer service experience interacting with commercial and industrial billing and customer account management.
Other Qualifications
Preferred:
- Associate degree with marketing or business courses
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with company billing systems, SAP ISU and SAP CRM
- Knowledge and understanding of MPSC Billing Practices Rules.
- Knowledge of Private Solar Business Process and active participation maintaining Private Solar customers’ accounts
- Knowledge of DTE billing rules/systems and applicable databases
- Understanding of regulatory environment as appropriate for private solar organization (could include company tariffs, rate requirements, renewable energy or efficiency requirements, etc.)
- Knowledge of solar currents and interconnection private solar bills and various interactions of internal groups and how work ties into business units
Other:
• Advanced Knowledge of Private Solar Business Process and active participation maintaining Private Solar customers’ accounts
• Advanced Knowledge of DTE billing rules/systems and applicable databases
• Advanced Understanding of regulatory environment as appropriate for private solar organization (could include company tariffs, rate requirements, renewable energy or efficiency requirements, etc.)
• Advanced problem-solving (CI skills) i.e., Yellow-Belt certifications
• Advanced knowledge of solar currents and interconnection private solar bills and various interactions of internal groups and how work ties into business units
