Job Summary

Operates Dispatch System as well as other company supplied computer systems to dispatch, coordinate, schedule and prioritize service requests. This job's responsibilities encompass current or previously dated work. Performs system support duties including problem solving, evaluating system requirements, recommending enhancements and implementation. Works with internal system personnel, trains others using job training methods, generates reports and studies to assist daily service requests.

Key Accountabilities

1. Dispatches current or previous dated work utilizing the Dispatch System.

2. Coordinates, schedules and prioritizes service requests for field activities, appointments, customer shutdowns

and job status.

3. Trains (OJT) represented employees on Dispatch System

4. Assist in maintaining the Dispatch System so that the system is available for users including problem solving and evaluating system requirements.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED with three years of experience in operating a Computer Aided Dispatching System or Associate degree with 2 years of job-related experience.  
  • Must have knowledge of filing & word processing/typing & knowledge of CRT/keyboard usage, data entry, internal customer service, PC applications software (spreadsheets, graphics, database managers, etc.), & telephone skills. Requires conducting employee training and education classes. 
  • Must have knowledge of complaint resolution, metering, service planning, and service restoration. Requires knowledge of customer service. This job exchanges information with industrial customers, other utilities, residential and commercial customers, & vendors/suppliers/contractors. 
  • Must have experience giving advice/counsel to supervisors outside its own organization. 
  • Must have advanced knowledge of dispatching. The workflow is organized in such a manner that constant movement between multiple tasks is required and conflicting priorities are balanced by the incumbent and represent a major challenge for this job. The type of analysis most often required to solve problems involves examining and analyzing information in accordance with existing principles and practices. Requires the development of ideas that have a positive impact on existing methods, services, or procedures. Expected to identify problems as they occur, based on the immediate symptoms, and look at the context of the problem, & to uncover related issues. Requires negotiating, participation in meetings, & persuading or influencing with knowledge of safety. Requires knowledge of electrical equipment and transmission/distribution. 
  • Must have thorough knowledge of CRM and current EBS systems procedures and regulations pertinent to billing, customer inquiries and field service practices. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision in an autonomous environment.
  • Capable of managing resources and workload volume.
  • Ability to respond accordingly to field emergencies. 
  • Willing to work shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
