Job Summary

Responsible for specifying the required architecture on complex projects and providing technical mentorship for the implementation of solution architectures.  Recognized expert in systems and application architecture, including web, cloud, big data, distributed systems, enterprise systems and security and possesses and maintains expert-level knowledge and experience in areas of software development, systems scalability, interoperability, integration, service and ArchitecturePlus International (API) and cloud technologies.  This role is responsible for understanding requirements and constraints for key architectural drivers and identifying specific technology components that satisfy business, technology, security and regulatory objectives.  Provides reference architectures and standards and identifies system architectures based on emerging technologies and industry best practices.  Responds to critical production issues as needed and provides technology leadership and troubleshooting to prevent the issues from occurring in the future. This is an individual contributor role.

Key Accountabilities

• Collaborates with delivery teams, third party vendors, enterprise and security architects to determine a technical architecture and approach to system implementation.
• Develops architecture artifacts that describe and communicate the required software architecture.
• Recommends improvements and/or alternatives for the company’s existing systems architecture and technology portfolio.
• Drives technical development and designs decisions to ensure alignment with overall enterprise architecture vision.
• Understands technology and architecture trends, how they impact future solutions and provides technical direction to the architecture and development community.
• Collaborates with development teams to identify and assess architecturally significant requirements and defines architectural solutions that effectively meet both functional and non-functional capabilities.
• Expert in current technologies, architecture patterns, application development and application integration pertinent to the Enterprise. Stays abreast of latest technologies, vendor offerings.
• Creates, maintains and manages architecture models, visualizations and specifications.
• This position may require gas FERC training.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

his is a multi-track base requirement job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following three options:


• High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in systems development and systems architecture inclusive of 3 years of experience serving as a software architect with medium or large program; OR
• Associates degree in  Computer Science, Information Technology and Engineering and 10 years of experience in systems development and systems architecture inclusive of 3 years of experience serving as a software architect with medium or large program; OR
• Bachelor's degree in  Computer Science, Information Technology and Engineering and 8 years of experience in systems development and systems architecture inclusive of 3 years of experience serving as a software architect with medium or large program

Other Qualifications


• Architecture experience for large vendor systems such as SAP ERP and IBM Maximo
• Proficiency using the C4 architecture model to provide architectural views
• Industry recognized architecture or development certification such as CISSP, AWS or Azure
• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI)
• Knowledge of Software Development methodologies (e.g., Agile)
• Knowledge of Software Architecture principles


Other Qualifications

• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with senior-level Corporate management.
• Hands on experience with architectural patterns of large, distributed systems and big data applications
• Expertise in at least two of the following architecture domains:  Cloud architecture, application architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure architecture, network architecture, business architecture and data architecture
• Experience designing scalable distributed solutions with API platforms
• Experience implementing SaaS, infrastructure as a services (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics architectures
