Testing Required:
On-Site Role: Must be available to work on-site at this assigned work location.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
This is the highest level supervisor in the business unit. Incumbents have to rely on the knowledge and technical expertise of those they supervise, which - in many cases - will be greater than their own, i.e. technical knowledge and expertise which may have been primarily sufficient for them to be successful will no longer enable them to complete the full range of tasks and responsibilities for which they're accountable. Their subordinate group will generally possess a wide and significantly differentiated variety of expertise, performing complex to very complex tasks. Incumbents at this level generally supervise more than one shift and/or cluster of functions. Requires minimal supervision , is self-directed and self-motivated.
Key Accountabilities
- Provides leadership support to the Information Technology (IT) staff; coaches, counsels, address complaints, and resolves IT-related problems.
- Responsible for IT staff performance evaluations and implementing IT staff development plans.
- Represents IT in business relationships.
- Manages multiple medium to large scale projects simultaneously.
- Maintains and recommends changes (as needed) to processes and policies that attract and retain people effective in IT application development and support.
- Direct responsibility for exempt, non-exempt and contract staff.
- Plans, schedules and supervises work activities/projects to consistently ensure on-time and on-budget implementation of best-in-class solutions to client needs, while meeting organizational and corporate goals.
- Manages medium to large-scale projects. Manages multiple efforts of medium to large scale simultaneously and consults on IT Leadership efforts.
- Establishes and maintains alliances with IO Organization in order to support the achievement of business unit strategic plans by implementing timely and cost effective business solutions through the use of the appropriate technology.
- Plans, executes and monitors a staff development program in order to develop and maintain a technically competent, motivated and highly productive work force to ensure the availability of resources to satisfy both the near and long-term requirements of client areas and the corporation in general.
- Employs continuous improvement to enhance processes, and IT team synergy using best practices and standard shared methodology.
- Promotes best-in-class industry best practices.
- Keeps abreast of technology trends and the CorporationÆs stated direction in order to select technology platforms that are appropriate and cost beneficial.
- Monitors error handling; knows root cause analysis.
- Gathers information, analyzes, designs, recommends and implements solutions in area of responsibility.
- Identifies/utilizes appropriate tools and conducts research utilizing internal and external sources.
- Leads in level 2 or 3 problem support responses.
- Delivers formal and informal presentations.
- Performs system and new process measurement and analysis.
- Identifies training needs and process documentation and standard work instructions
- Provides planning and time estimates for own assignments, as well as other group assignments.
- This position may require gas FERC training
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
This is a multi-track base requirement job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following three options:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of information technology-related experience, inclusive of 1 year of formal/informal supervisory and/or project leadership experience; OR
- Associate degree and 5 years of information technology-related experience, inclusive of 1 year of formal/informal supervisory and/or project leadership experience; OR
- High School diploma and 7 years of information-technology related experience, inclusive of 1 year of formal/informal supervisory and/or project leadership experience.
Other Qualifications
Preferred
- Bachelor degree in IT related discipline

- Demonstrates experience in implementation and transference of knowledge where appropriate.
