Testing Required:
Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
Drives the operational evaluation and management of opportunities across the Company’s Electric segment. Focuses on sourcing and assessing growth opportunities from a technical operational standpoint, while managing the operational performance of existing company portfolio assets and integrating newly acquired assets into the portfolio. Responsible for maintaining and enforcing governance processes for assets managed within the portfolio. Evaluates technical operations of potential asset acquisitions, including renewables projects, and assessing strategic operational scenarios of the portfolio, and assessing rebuild and energy redevelopment opportunities. Supports the operational and technical evaluation of new business growth opportunities, including new business models, products and services, and ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance within the portfolio of new growth opportunities.
Span of control: Leads team of individual contributors.
Key Accountabilities
- Form and assist in developing commercial strategies that will grow DTE’s revenue.
- Source and assess growth opportunities, supporting the operational and technical evaluation of growth opportunities and assets.
- Evaluate technical operations of potential new assets or business acquisitions and evaluate operational scenarios.
- Manage the operational performance of existing portfolio assets, ensuring optimal performance and seamless integration of newly acquired assets into the portfolio.
- Maintain and enforce governance processes for assets managed within the portfolio, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to establish growth and performance goals, associated with key performance indicators (KPIs) to track growth and performance progress, and strategically identify areas of improvement.
- Contribute to the development of operational strategies for existing and planned asset portfolios.
- Provide data, trends, and insights into clear narratives for executive presentations, offering recommendations to leadership based on data-driven analysis.
- Work closely with controllers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of capital and O&M allocations and identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and business development.
- Contribute to the development of the Company’s long-term strategies that drive sustainable growth.
- Assist teams in developing compelling customer presentations of necessity.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Engineering Management with seven years of experience in business, finance, operations, engineering, or commercial strategy; inclusive of three years of formal leadership experience OR;
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Engineering Management with five years of experience in business, finance, operations, engineering, or commercial strategy; inclusive of three years of formal leadership experience
Other Qualifications
Preferred:
- MBA preferred or masters degree in technical operations or engineering
- Proven experience in energy operations and management
- Commercial mindset with a track record of managing and improving operations and profitability
- Familiarity with maintenance planning or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

- Written and verbal communication and advocacy skills consistent with the ability to present results of projects and research to senior-level leadership.

- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high-visibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork and planning.
