Testing Required:

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

 

Job Summary

Oversees financial and valuation analyses and development of recommendations for strategic planning. Leads teams that evaluate merger, acquisition, and divestiture opportunities. Develops and provides recommendations to senior leadership on strategic and financial implications of major investments. Span of Control: Leads team of individual contributors and/or supervisors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the capital approval process, ensuring that proposed investments have sound financial analysis and confirmation from supporting functional areas (e.g., legal, tax, and accounting)
  • Leads teams that conduct strategic and financial assessments of mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture opportunities
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to leadership on the company’s long-term scenarios based on changing industry and economic events
  • Leads valuation analyses for the company’s long-term plan, including comparing results from assessments with the company’s trading value and/or equity analyst estimates
  • Develops hurdle rates for the company’s business units, including non-utility segments
  • Develops annual dividend recommendation for the company
  • Performs ad-hoc financial analyses that support business units (e.g., assessing lowest-cost options for customers, etc.)
  • Serves as expert on industry best practices and trends for strategic planning development
  • Ensures the accomplishment of the following core supervisory/management functions for a given group(s) within area of responsibility; planning, organizing, directing the performance of on-going activities and/or special/ad hoc assignments, staffing (employee selections, training, coaching and performance management, time entry), coordinating, reporting and budgeting
  • Leads the continuous improvement commitment and efforts within area of responsibility: designing processes; establishing quality and quantity standards and metrics; collecting, refining, adapting, and communicating best practices; sharing knowledge and developing staff in a systematic fashion. Uses process design outcomes to solve problems

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with seven years of experience in corporate strategy and/or financial analyses/financial valuations, inclusive of two years leading projects and/or teams

Other Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license
  • Experience working with management consulting and/or investment banking firms
  • Advanced energy industry knowledge and understanding of industry trends/issues

 Other Requirements:

  • Ability to integrate industry best practices for development of business strategies
  • Ability to support project management techniques and related tools/applications
  • Ability to think strategically across a range of current and emerging industry trends
  • Ability to work professionally with individuals internally and externally at all levels
  • Ability to communicate well with others, including proficient verbal, written, and presentation skills with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
