Testing Required:

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

 

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for budget performance, strategic planning, selection and development of new and existing personnel in the business unit (BU). Accountable for the business unit's overall direction and implementation of continuous improvement activity, training, tools and techniques. Ensure a safe work environment for employees and support the Company's goal to attain best in operation status. Span of control: approximately 3-5 jobs and 15-20 FTEs (direct, second- level, etc.)

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify, develop and lead initiatives that improve business and field processes.
  • Expand internal and external customer focus and satisfaction.
  • Manage the business unit's development and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans.
  • Review, and analyzes reports, records and directives and confers with team to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
  • Perform core management functions in budget creation, coordination and reporting, new employee selection and staff performance management.
  • Regularly evaluate the business unit's performance targets and goals. Initiating corrective action(s) to maintain and improve current scores.
  • Review ongoing target to performance results, taking corrective measures with authorization.
  • Continue to foster the collaborative and supportive work environment to maximize employee morale and productivity.
  • In addition to regular job responsibilities, perform an emergency storm assignment, as needed.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or a related field and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired from 5 or more years of job-related experience.

  • Experience leading a unionized workforce

Other Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of the Company's software programs, such as In Service, STREaMs, WMS, FSA etc
  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicate clearly, with credibility and confidence.
  • Working knowledge of financial and economic analysis processes, project and risk management experience
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of Company/Union agreements, utilizing Interest-based Bargaining for grievance resolution
  • The ability to analyze and identify key management issues and apply problem solving methods to achieve optimal solutions.
  • Utilize and employ continuous improvement or project planning principles to identify areas for process improvements, or structuring.
  • Knowledge of safety policies, programs and procedures.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism, lead by example, provide ongoing constructive feedback and obtain the best effort and results from staff and peers.
