Job Summary

Responsible for facilitating successful implementation of intelligent business automation projects through robotic process automation (RPA) by analyzing value, evaluating risk, interacting with vendors, prioritizing opportunities, and ensuring development per DTE Energy guidelines.  Span of control:  Leads a team of individual contributors.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provides leadership to team and DTE automation vendors responsible for creating and deploying automation solutions for intelligent automation initiatives.
  • Builds consensus with executives for the implementation of new programs and initiatives for the business areas supported.
  • Provides updates to senior executives and other leaders regarding projects on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis.
  • Manages issues around automation development, resource utilization, project management and quality.
  • Provides process standards and best practices to the organization, ensuring that the development process runs at benchmark performance levels.
  • Manages and monitors budgets for automation.
  • Researches and promotes industry best practices, implementing across the organization.  Provides tools and metrics to monitor productivity, consistency and business effectiveness.
  • Leads engagement, development and performance management of the team.
  • Collaborates with all business functions to ensure accuracy of assumptions in automation project plans.
  • Collaborates with IT to ensure all policies and procedures related to IT infrastructure, security and development are followed.
  • Keeps abreast of technology trends and DTE’s stated direction, selects technology platforms that are appropriate and cost beneficial, and establishes business relationships to support the application of technology to specific business areas.
  • Interacts with automation vendors on their proposals, capabilities, delivery methodology and standards for development
  • Promotes continuous improvement philosophy and methodology that shapes in a performance driven culture
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience performing project/program management and/or development related responsibilities, inclusive of at least two years of formal leadership experience.
Other Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, business administration or information technology related discipline.
  • Experienced in project management tools; knowledge of operating systems methodologies and tools
  • Experience working in Intelligent / Robotics Process Automation environment
  • Prior knowledge and experience with SAP application

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to increase client value and support best practices, drive continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness and improve productivity and resource availability.
  • Good organization, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Broad understanding of IT industry, including emerging technologies, industry standards, support services, business applications, systems design, and systems integration and an in-depth knowledge of processes and systems associated with area of responsibility.
  • Ability to foresee, present, plan and execute automation opportunities in conjunction/on behalf of the business unit.
