Job Summary

    Advanced-Level technician functions with advanced knowledge and skills in specific area of responsibility relating to engineering, project management, laboratory analysis, computer, power plant or peaker technologies. Typical assignments include design, problem solving and technical support for the optimum operation and maintenance of company assets. Performs technical work requiring application of engineering or scientific principles, techniques and procedures. Produces reports, makes recommendations in solving problems, scheduling work, training and goals. Organizes work and directs the work of others in that area.

Key Accountabilities

  • Communicates clear, concise results and corrective actions
  • Designs and recommends new equipment or systems
  • Implements changes for improved equipment operation
  • Keep up to date on current and developing technology and make recommendations that will benefit company goals
  • Leads and coordinates the monitoring and testing of equipment performance, analyzes results, and initiates corrective action
  • Leads and coordinates the problem solving and maintenance of equipment in the area of expertise e.g., computers, boilers, turbines, electrical, instrumentation & controls, laboratories
  • Provides technical consultation to others
  • Provides work direction and technical guidance as required
  • Apply and interpret industry codes and standards in related discipline

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Associate's degree, technical diploma, or two years of a four-year formal program in the relevant discipline and normally ten years job related experience in specified discipline OR 
  • High school diploma and normally twelve years job related experience in specified discipline


Level II Certifications in VT, PT, MT, RT 

Other Qualifications

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline
  • Apply and interpret industry codes and standards in related discipline.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company.
  • Demonstrates use of project management skills and related tools.
  • Ability to handle multiple and complex tasks, develop and change priorities, meet deadlines, work with the supply chain process, manage, schedule, direct, and monitor the work of others.
  • Knowledge of Engineering or scientific procedures, equipment, testing methodology, and contract administration, computers, turbines, boilers, instrumentation & controls, laboratories.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
