Job Summary
Analyze and report on overhead/underground construction compliance with design construction standards. Build customer loyalty by providing superior service to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of all internal and external customers.
Key Accountabilities
- 70% Analyze representative underground and overhead lines construction jobs to ensure that the design of the line meets specification
- 5% Determines if field construction (all crews) work conforms with uniform interpretation of Company standards
- 5% Conducts training sessions for field personnel
- 5% Reports on defective equipment observed in the field causing existing or imminent hazards to the proper authority. Follows up on corrective action taken
- 5% Recommend improvement in line construction
- 10% Responsibility to adjust inventory and non-material units in appropriate computer venue
- Recommendations for training, setting goals and objectives, developing productivity measures and work unit policy, recognizing and developing talent, and managing diversity (gender, culture, etc.).
- Build consensus or support for the implementation of new programs, initiatives or solutions.
- Identify problems as they occur and help to assist in uncovering any related issues. In the absence of guidelines or standard operating procedures, responsibility for decision making. Supervision is readily available, and work is regularly reviewed.
- After each problem is identified, assist in developing recommendations and alternatives to addressing the problem.
- Exchanges of factual information, giving advice to leaders inside and outside its own organizational unit, and negotiating with others inside its own organizational unit.
- Exchanges information with community organizations, consultants, municipalities, professional contacts/associations, and prospective customers.
- Directing or delegating and selling products and/or services. Weekly
- participation in meetings or group discussions. Daily advising or recommending, negotiating, persuading or influencing, and problem solving.
- Conducting employee training and/or education classes, leading of meetings and or facilitating group discussions. Preparation of forms, letters, proposals, presentations and technical writing. Daily preparation of computer/systems documentation and internal memoranda.
- Requires planning work for itself only. It does not have responsibility for budget development. The workflow is organized in such a manner that frequently multiple tasks must be handled at one time; conflicting priorities are reviewed with supervisor and shifted to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Formal education level required to do this job is high school or equivalent. The preferred formal education level is a technical diploma or Associate's degree. The minimum prior job- related experience necessary to do this job is three years, but less than five years. To be fully proficient in this job, at least five years but less than seven years prior job-related experience is necessary.
- Working knowledge of CRT/keyboard usage, data entry, filing, customer service, PC applications software (spreadsheets, graphics, database managers, etc.), timekeeping/pay practices, and word processing/typing.
- Advanced knowledge of telephone skills, knowledge of product, service planning, and service restoration.
- Working knowledge of real estate/rights of way advanced knowledge of inspection (OHL/UGL Installed plants).
- Working knowledge of organization and management, skills, safety, and training, development and education.
- Knowledge of blueprints/drawings/schematics, electrical equipment, general plant, measuring devices, mechanical equipment, non-precision tools/instruments, precision tools/instruments, and rigging/lifting, construction and transmission/distribution.
