Testing Required:

Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

This is a professional position responsible for supporting the Company's business objectives by assisting in developing, planning, organizing, coordinating and scheduling organizational development programs and initiatives. A degree of creativity, business understanding, and personal organization is required. Work involves performing services requiring a moderate level of independent judgment, initiative and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed and requires minimal supervision. Work results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for supporting organizational development programs and processes.
  • Responsible for planning, developing, scheduling and coordinating annual Company events that add business value while increasing employee engagement.
  • Supports processes to ensure quality and consistency across the affiliate organizations and allow for use of best practices.
  • Actively participates in the development and deployment of tools to create and maintain high levels of employee engagement and leadership effectiveness.
  • Provides assistance in Human Resources due diligence activities related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Supports workforce, succession and talent planning.
  • Assesses existing training and development programs, as well, as the critical training and development needs for the organization, and assists in measuring performance to gauge program success.
  • Supports the development of new training programs, curricula, and materials, and the evaluation, updating, and maintenance of the current inventory of training programs, curricula, and materials.
  • Researches, identifies, and responds with creative and value added solutions to the training and development needs of business units.
  • Assists in the implementation of performance solutions and measures results.
  • Ensures all technical training programs comply with company policies and procedures, as well as Federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains familiarity with outside vendors, training programs and resources.
  • Ensures appropriate and required training is scheduled and delivered for new hires as part of orientation.
  • Responsible for auditing of employee new hire and status change forms.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university with a major in human resources, business, organizational development or related field.
  • Five years overall experience in training and development or general human resources.

Other Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of modern training and development, including principals of adult learning, training, organizational methodology and assessment techniques.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations and professional best practices.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, human resources information systems (SAP experience preferred), and internet-based services and applications.
  • Must have the ability to quickly learn systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and display creativity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research methodology, statistics and data analysis.
  • Must have strong project management experience.
  • Ability to write and prepare documents using innovative techniques or style, and to research and write policies and programs.
  • Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain confidential and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management and clients.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to establish goals, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel 20%.
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader, who collaborate on employee issues and decisions (including performance management, compensation and development).
  • The employee performs job duties in a climate controlled office environment, with a moderate noise level.
