Job Summary

The senior-level engineer will be responsible for planning and executing engineering activities. This position is based at the DTE Walker Cisler Building but will also require work in the field. It necessitates the use of advanced techniques and the application of theories, principles, practices, and disciplines, along with practical field experience. The incumbent will have the authority and responsibility to make decisions regarding engineering challenges and methods to address significant issues. Additionally, they will participate in and lead teams consisting of field employees, technicians, engineers, and other personnel..

Key Accountabilities

  • Develops, coordinates, and directs important projects or field engineering assignments with complex features.
  • Performs assigned (or initiates) engineering studies, proposing solutions to engineering-related problems; develops models and analyzes data to support improvement programs, techniques & solutions.
  • Interfaces with outside departments, vendors, suppliers, and reliability entities.
  • Develops or assists in presentations of engineering-related projects to all levels of management & external parties (contractors, customers, etc.).
  • Plans and manages group workflow to meet budgets and schedules.
  • May mentor and provide guidance/direction for less experienced staff.
  • Leads in ensuring environmental regulatory compliance by monitoring, reporting, developing and implementing procedures and strategies.
  • Leads, performs, coordinate and recommends solutions for environmental issues based on investigations, professional judgement and current industry practices.
  • Leads in the review and interpretation of environmental regulations and proposed regulatory changes to assess impact and to ensure compliance.
  • Represents the company on environmental issues with regulatory agencies and industry groups.
  • Demonstrates an expert understanding and interprets environmental laws and regulations.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science job relevant discipline and a minimum of 4 years of job relevant experience
  • OR Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Science job relevant discipline, MBA, JD, PhD and a minimum of 3 years of job relevant experience.

Other Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills

 

Prefferred 

  • Understanding and application of Part 60, Part 63 and Part 75 EPA source testing methods
  • Qualified Source Testing Individual (QSTI) (Groups 1 & 3) or ability to obtain QSTI certification within one year
  • Experience utilizing and interpreting FTIR analysis for stationary source emissions testing
  • Experience with EGLE and EPA reporting tools such as MiEnviro, Compliance and Emissions Data Reporting Interface (CEDRI), and Emission Collection and Monitoring Plan System (ECMPS)
  • Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) certification or experience
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform work at heights such as stack testing platforms, scaffolding, and aerial lifts
  • Valid driver’s license and experience towing trailers
