Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee’s primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company’s remote work guidelines.
Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.
Job Summary
Identify and analyze opportunities for business expansion and revenue growth within the organization. Research market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for growth and scalability. Develop actionable strategies and plans that align with the company’s vision and goals to increase market share and profitability. Analyze government policies and regulations related to the industry to identify potential risks and opportunities. Focus on areas of renewable energy adoption, smart grid technologies, energy efficiency, and the development of new electrical infrastructure.

Key Accountabilities
- Conducts market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscapes, customer behavior, and technological advancements impacting the organization.
- Analyzes data from various sources to pinpoint potential areas for business expansion, including new markets, untapped customer segments, and emerging technologies.
- Crafts strategies to capitalize on identified opportunities, aligning them with the company's overall vision and goals.
- Develops financial models and scenario analyses to assess the viability of strategic initiatives and forecast business performance.
- Evaluates potential risks associated with business decisions and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Collaborates with various departments, such as regulatory affairs, marketing, sales, finance, and operations, to define and execute growth strategies of product development, market expansion, and revenue growth initiatives.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends potential investments, acquisitions, and partnerships within the electrical space.
- Prepares and presents detailed presentations and reports to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Leads development and implementation of growth strategies to identify new market entry points, optimize product offerings, and improve customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Analyzes data to uncover insights that can inform strategic decisions, including financial modeling, sales forecasting, and performance measurement.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Education and experience requirements must be satisfied through one of the following options:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) with 7 years of finance, accounting, business, data analysis, or strategic planning; OR
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, or Project Management with 7 years of finance, accounting, business, data analysis, or strategic planning.
Other Qualifications
Preferred
- Knowledge of the electrical industry, including power systems, renewable energy, and emerging technologies. Advanced degrees or certifications in specialized areas can be beneficial.

Negotiation skills: Ability to lead and manage complex discussions with stakeholders, vendors, and regulators.

Benchmarking expertise: Experience in evaluating industry standards and applying best practices to improve performance.

Portfolio management: Proven track record in overseeing diverse projects or assets to achieve strategic goals.

Battery storage knowledge: Familiarity with energy storage technologies, applications, and market trends.

MPSC experience: Direct involvement with Michigan Public Service Commission processes, filings, or compliance.

Regulatory experience: Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, policy development, and compliance requirements.
