Job Summary

LOCATION:  HOUSTON, TX

The Senior Process Engineer is the primary technical contact for all matters related to process technology support. Provides all departments with process expertise, participates in development of capital projects, conducts data analytics and process testing as required to solve problems, optimizes system performance, supports safety and environmental compliance. Process Engineering involves process design, process simulation, process equipment & instrument datasheets, PFD, P&ID and various calculations.

Key Accountabilities

A Senior Gas Process Engineer will perform some of these duties at an expert level.

  • Provide design solutions and performance tests requirements towards optimizing production or solving process related incidents
  • Develop process design basis and process flow diagrams for new projects
  • Prepare in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) to ensure safety in design and facility operations, and in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
  • Interact with and support Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and other departments to ensure that appropriate process data and analyses are available to support Company’s business objectives
  • Provide process engineering expertise and guidance to Operating facilities to make improvement recommendations related to process systems design and controls
  • Develop and conduct process simulations in conjunction with Operating facilities to investigate system steady state responses in support of diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Participate in incident investigation to analyze equipment and system failures and deviations and provide solutions and corrective actions to root causes
  • Collecting data required to make process improvements and modifications
  • Frame engineering/operational problems and propose solutions
  • Provide technical support to field as needed
  • Applies strong knowledge and background of engineering principles to transmission and gathering pipeline industry
  • Review and assess new technology, processes, materials and equipment
  • Initiates or performs engineering studies, proposing solutions or recommending alternatives; assist with developing engineering standards and practices
  • Monitor and support engineering related activities as related to field construction projects
  • Monitor system performance and prepare long and short-term facility plans
  • Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints
  • Mentor and provides guidance/direction for less experienced personnel
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a minimum 7 years of job related experience is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and meet company-driving standards. Gas processing and pipeline modeling experience required.
Other Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Chemical Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer license and/or Master’s Degree

 

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of design, installation and commissioning of gas and liquid pipeline systems including gathering and transmission pipelines, gas/liquid separation, cryogenic gas processing, fractionation, heating and flow/pressure regulation and measurement
  • Knowledge of engineering software / simulation packages such as HYSYS, Flaresim, Fluidflow, Pro/II, and/or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Hazard Identification and Analysis (HAZOP) and Risk Assessment process
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards including applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, laws, and codes, ASME Piping Codes, National Electric Code, CFR 192, DOT, and PHMSA rules and regulations
  • Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline including Excel, Word, Viso and Access database
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company
  • Effective in self-management of time with a demonstrated personal commitment to work

Occasionally the employee will have to lift/move objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Vision requirements for this position requirements for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both in a business office setting and at a project site. In the course of working at the project site, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office, but may become loud at the project site.
