Job Summary
Location: Indianapolis, IN
This position is responsible for the safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance of all equipment within the cogeneration facility.
DTE Indianapolis LLC operates and maintains the Ingredion-owned facility. The O&M Technician IV is responsible for operating and maintaining two gas turbines, two heat recovery boilers, and all associated balance-of-plant equipment. This work is performed independently and under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager, and performance is evaluated based on established goals and compliance with company policies and procedures.
The cogeneration facility generates electricity using two Solar Taurus 70 gas turbine generators, two heat recovery boilers, and associated balance-of-plant equipment. Plant operations are controlled through an automated PLC system using Rockwell Automation hardware and software.
The O&M Technician IV performs preventive, corrective, and minor maintenance on all facility systems and plant equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Comply with all site safety requirements and procedures by identifying hazards and taking corrective action as needed.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, plant efficiency standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain and use key performance metrics to monitor facility systems and equipment and support efficient plant operations.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, records, trends, and reports required for plant operations, ensuring technical accuracy and consistent application.
- Conduct contractor and visitor safety orientations in accordance with company policy.
- Facilitate pre-job briefings with employees and contractors to promote safety and ensure compliance with DTE policies and procedures.
- Serve as an active member of the site safety team or committee.
- Support projects that advance plant and business objectives, including Employee Safety Initiatives (ESIs), maintain current and accurate standard operating procedures (SOPs), and develop or revise SOPs as directed by the Plant Manager.
- Recommend and implement improvements to plant operating processes.
- Investigate operating abnormalities and incidents to improve equipment availability and performance while reducing maintenance needs.
- Assist in the timely preparation of root cause analyses and event reports for forced outages, operational abnormalities, and other reportable events, as required.
- Continuously evaluate operating and maintenance processes and provide recommendations to the Plant Manager to improve cost-effectiveness, work quality, outage duration, and budget performance.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with plant management.
- Provide recommendations to and support the Owner during major maintenance activities.
- Provide input on spare parts inventory to support preventive maintenance and repair needs while minimizing unnecessary downtime.
- Maximize plant efficiency and Owner value without compromising personnel safety, equipment safety, environmental compliance, or the long-term commercial viability of the facility.
- Be available for scheduled and unscheduled shift coverage, perform physically demanding tasks, and respond to after-hours call-ins when contacted.
- Support all departments and perform other duties as needed to meet plant requirements.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years of related technical operations and maintenance experience.
Other Qualifications
Preferred:
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with instrumentation, controls, and electrical experience.
- Instrumentation and controls (I&C) experience.
- Technical training and demonstrated success in similar work environments.
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of plant operations.
- Strong working knowledge of gas turbines, HRSGs, steam systems, DCS, PLC technology, mechanical systems, hydraulics, electricity, and electronics.
- Working knowledge of accounting systems related to work orders, preventive maintenance programs, and spare parts inventory.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Solid knowledge of plant engineering and plant operations functions.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and direct programs and tasks that support overall plant operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical information, including blueprints, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, schematics, and other mechanical and electrical drawings, to troubleshooting and problem-solving situations.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate technical work effectively with cross-functional colleagues and external vendors.

- Be exposed to protected and unprotected heights, which requires the use of a personal fall protection system (harness/lifeline).
- Occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- Frequently be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards.
- Be in a work environment that is moderate to loud.
- Be in a work environment with a noise level that may occasionally go above the threshold, requiring PPE.
