Job Summary

Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates classroom and computer-based training and records for the Emergency Preparedness (EP) program using the Systematic Approach to Training Model. Facilitates learning interventions.  Coordinates and tracks all requirements for Emergency Response Organization (ERO) initial and continuing training.

Key Accountabilities

• Assists in the development of emergency drills and evaluates exercise scenarios, including coordination with representatives from offsite emergency response organizations.
• Works with various site leaders and managers to ensure that adequate numbers of personnel are assigned to various ERO roles such that the ERO is fully staffed with qualified personnel.
• Responsible for coordinating personnel scheduling and participation for initial and continuing ERO training, supporting maintenance of EP qualifications, ensuring DTE Fermi Nuclear, the State of Michigan, and local agencies are in a constant state of readiness.
• Conducts performance analysis to ensure problems/issues are positioned with the correct solutions.
• Evaluates student performance and course effectiveness.
• Evaluates Training Program Effectiveness through data acquisition, analysis and trending.
• Leads training self-assessments.
• Mentors new training instructors.
• Mentors Subject Matter Expert presenters to ensure maximum student/client benefit.
• Solicits and responds to management observations, trainee feedback and corrective action documents to identify areas for improvement in the training programs and client performance.
• Tracks student progress through initial training programs.  Intervenes with student and/or his management as needed to ensure successful and timely completion of initial qualifications.
• Audits, reviews, and updates course material as needed.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Associates degree and four years of experience in nuclear power, emergency preparedness/response, academia or naval nuclear, Or
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent and six years of experience in nuclear power, emergency preparedness/response, academia or naval nuclear.
Other Qualifications


• Holds or previously held an SRO License or SRO Certification
• Experience in a technical role within nuclear power
• Experience as a Training Instructor
• Experience developing and delivering computer based training (for example, Articulate, NANTEL, or Storyline)
• Experience conducting and using performance analysis techniques
• Experience effectively managing complex tasks or projects


Other Requirements:

• Maintains instructor and technical qualifications for Emergency Preparedness
• Participate as an Emergency Response Organization ERO member and responds to call-ins as appropriate.
• Computer Skills: MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Able to pass all phases of In-processing including a background investigation, psychological screening, appropriate radiation worker/respiratory training and be medically certifiable drug and alcohol screen.
• Knowledge of using all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training SAT process.
• Communication and presentation skills.
• Able to effectively prepare and present classroom presentations.
