Testing Required:

On-Site Role: Must be available to work on-site at this assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the nuclear organization by providing expertise in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation and controls. Assists leadership in managing all maintenance aspects of the Nuclear Maintenance Organization. Continuously strives for "Best in Class" performance by promoting continuous improvement and benchmarking strategies based on best practices of industry standards. Span of control: Supervises first line supervisors and represented employees.

Key Accountabilities

  • Administers the functions of the Union Agreement and enforces Corporate and business unit policies for the Maintenance section, including any disciplinary actions
  • Assists the Manager with all aspects of maintenance activities and ensures efficient, safe and reliable plant operation as required by the unit's operating license
  • Develops programs and practices that instill the highest standards of performance and attention to detail in employees
  • Maintains accredited training program in compliance with the National Academy of Nuclear Training guidelines and ensures workforce is properly trained as required
  • Maintains technical expertise through training, benchmarking and self-assessments
  • Manages costs within approved budget and continuously strives for additional effectiveness and methods to control costs and reduce budget on an annual basis
  • Promotes and strictly enforces procedure adherence and personnel and public safety

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Three years of supervisory experience or experience leading and managing others
  • Discipline Based Qualifications:
    • Superintendent, Production Maintenance (Electrical and Mechanical):
      • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
      • Four years of experience in the craft or discipline supervised
    • Superintendent, Production Maintenance (I&C):
      • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
      • Five years of experience in instrumentation and control, inclusive of 6 months in nuclear instrumentation and control. Of the five years of experience in instrumentation and control, a minimum of 2 years and maximum of 4 years may be fulfilled by related technical or academic training
    • Superintendent, Production Maintenance (Turbine or Valve):
      • High School Diploma or GED
      • Four years of experience in mechanical, electrical or instrumentation and control

Other Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a recognized engineering or scientific field generally associated with power production
  • Currently holds or previously held a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or SRO certification
  • If filling the Superintendent, Production Maintenance (Turbine or Valve), one year experience in the discipline supervised

Other Requirements:

  • Passes all phases of hiring requirements, including background investigation, psychological screening, appropriate radiation worker/respiratory training, and medical physical (i.e., is medically certifiable to perform required work)
  • Passes drug and alcohol screening requirements
