Operations/Maintenance Technician

Location:  Vicksburg, Mississippi

 

DTE Energy Services has an immediate opening  for an Operations & Maintenance Technician at our Pulverized Coal Plant located in Vicksburg, MS.   Under the general direction of the plant manager, this position has direct responsibility for operating, monitoring, and performing preventative and emergency maintenance of all equipment within the plant.  Familiarity with plant equipment, such as coal unloading and conveying equipment, coal crushing equipment, and thermal dryers is required. 

 

The successful candidate must have experience with field instrumentation and PLC operational knowledge. Additionally, the candidate must possess the ability to read; prints, drawings, records and manuals. Must be able to interpret and evaluate operational data, readings requirement and graphs of various operating equipment to determine the equipment condition and take appropriate actions based on these findings.  Will perform routine housekeeping duties and general clean-up of the facility and its surrounding areas.

 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy industrial process related equipment within a steel mill, coal-fired utility plant or similar experience, including related experience operating pulverized coal systems or similar material handling/processing systems through a centralized computer control system.  PLC/instrumentation & control experience is desirable.  This position requires shift work and flexibility in scheduling.

  • Occasionally, the employee will have to lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Vision requirements for this position include close, distance and peripheral vision, along with depth perception.

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. 

  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
