Job Summary

Location: Woodland, CA

 

The position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the company’s fuel procurement and ash disposal strategy and plans for multiple facilities.

The person in this position will establish fuel and ash plans based on market conditions, forecasts, and opportunities while providing fuel that meets the overall quality requirements for the facilities and is in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The individual will need to work with both internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage multiple sources for the procurement of wood and disposal of ash.  

The individual may also assist with the business development activities as assigned. 

Key Accountabilities

•    Identifies sources of wood or other materials suitable for processing and consumption.
•    Develop and evaluate fuel sourcing opportunities.
•    Evaluate commercial contracts to maximize value to the company 
•    Ensure compliance with PPA fuel sharing mechanisms
•    Communicates activities, plans, and results as needed 
•    Negotiates with counterparties to successfully structure procurement, transportation, storage, and other commercial agreements needed to satisfy fuel plan
•    Work with private and public entities to identify and establish material procurement points in support of each facilities fuel plan.
•    Performs all other related duties as assigned
 

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements


Bachelor’s degree or 5 years relevant professional experience in similar position is desired.

Other Qualifications

Preferred 

•    The candidate should have a commercial background and be familiar with various aspects of the wood and wood transportation industry
•    Certified Registered Professional Forester with field related experience in HHF market
•    Experience with wood fired power plant facilities is preferred as this is the primary use of recovered material

 

Other Requirements

•    Ability to develop and maintain strong relationship with wood suppliers, transporters, brokers, and recovery customers is essential.
•    Knowledge of cost optimization activities is helpful.
•    Exposure to power plant solid fuel management procedures and processes is helpful
•    Power plant solid fuel hedging strategies and cost control strategies would be helpful
•    History of developing and crafting solid fuel procurement and transportation agreements is helpful.
•    Experience or Exposure with managing waste recovery yards or fuel yards is helpful
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyze and communicate task, needs, activities, and follow-up actions to relevant stakeholders are a must.
•    Ability to take initiative.
•    Ability to juggle multiple assignments.
•    Team player, ability to lead and/or work with large groups.
•    Ability to travel as necessary

Working Conditions

The individual may also be exposed to chemicals and odors consistent with waste materials.  The individual may at times work near mechanical moving parts.  They may work in high, precarious areas, around fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.  The individual may spend many hours driving as stakeholders may be broadly dispersed over a large geographical area.
