Plant & Field Operations

An energizing career awaits you at DTE Energy. Our skilled workforce helps construct and maintain our power plants, natural gas and electrical systems, which are the heart and soul of DTE Energy. Of our 10,000 total employees, approximately 50 percent work in plant and field positions.

Individuals having industrial, energy industry, wind and steam turbine technology experience and/or an operations background are encouraged to apply. We also hire:  

  • Tradesmen in the following areas:
    • Electrical
    • Welding (boiler making)
    • Machine repair
    • Pipe fitting
    • Facilities maintenance
  • Field maintenance workers
  • Service technicians
  • Maintenance gas fitters 
  • Lineman
  • Power and electrical relay technicians

Many of our plant and field employees are represented by the Utility Workers Union of America Local 223 or by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 17. If you are not a member of a union, please contact them directly to see how to join and the benefits they offer.

Certifications & Experience

Almost all our plant and field employees must have some sort of on-the-job training, formal vocational education and/or certification before being hired.
